According to the liner notes on the LP, Jr. showed up out of the blue when
Bonnie Raitt was recording her first album in the 1970's, which in spite
of the poor technical quality of the recording remains my favorite of her
works. On the small handful songs in which Jr. is featured, his playing is
as appealing and tasteful as anything you'll ever hear in the blues realm.
Not that he didn't phone a lot of stuff in later in his career, but there's
no gettin' around the fact that the man could flat out play.
