[Harp-L] Re: Harmonicas Harmonicas Harmonicas

Rodney,

It may sound trite, but second hand harmonicas are worth whatever someone will pay for them. For example, there is a used Hohner Silver Star on eBay (Aust) at the moment for $29 + p&H. New price is about $14! They may or may not get a sucker for that one!

Most of the harmonicas you have listed are still in production, so if yours are in good nick you could get anywhere from 25% - 90% of the new price depending on the enthusiasm and knowledge of the buyer. I'd recommend putting them individually (and not all at once) on eBay with either a 99c opening bid (which is cheaper for you) or an opening bid of around 25% of the new price. Most harmonicas (not sure about the contrabass) will be under the weight for the minimum Australia Post bag, so you can fix the p&h around that cost. But be prepared for international bidders (there are some countries you may not wish to sell to as they have recurring difficulties with postage - or you may just want to sell them in Oz). A bunch of good photos always helps on eBay.

You may find a collector/enthusiast that is willing to take them as a 'job lot' - if so, that person is probably on Harp-L!

Cheers and good luck

Maka
PS: I saw Galapogos Duck many decades ago, and Tommy Emmanuel a bit more recently
