I actually wonder why that is. If, say, Dennis Gruenling can rock a double low F diatonic, I'd think a well made chromatic in the same range would be even easier to play, as it has windsavers. The problem as I see it is that most stock chromatics just aren't made to be very airtight, but some, like the CX-12 and pricier models like the Gregoire Maret signature model should be pretty good for low tunings. Or say, a low Suzuki Fabulous. Once you get an airtight enough chrom to start with, making it lower should give you results that aren't any worse than the low end of your stock Super 64 (not to rag on them, that's what I play ;)
