Winslow referred to suggested terms that didn't come into common use. I
propose the description "Key of harp, what position, results in what key" as
C2PG
where
C is the key of the harp
2P is the position being played
G is the resulting key center
C3PD
C4PA
C12PF
Ab2PEb
F#2PC#
Will this hold up throughout our system of diatonic harps and positions? Is
there any point where it doesn't remain clear? I find it particularly
useful written on student study pages as they learn how to manage their
harps for a song. I haven't found a need for designating Major or Minor, or
considered an accommodation for tunings.
Aside from the natural human resistance to learning something new, does
this seem useful? Just think of the brevity in typing the answer to "What
harp and key and position is this recording?"
