One of the nice things about Amazing Slow-Downer is that you can save
presets of different areas of the song you are working on. So for
example, if it's Blues Traveler 'Run Around' you can set preset 1 for
the intro, 2 for the first solo, 3 for the second solo and each one can
have its own rate of slowness, etc. This makes it very efficient to pick
right back up the next day (or month...) when you want to go back to
working on a certain song. You have a catalog of songs from the MP3s or
whatever you are working on and it remembers the areas you are working
on. Highly recommend this one, no affiliation. Bill

Amazing Slow Downer -- both in PC and Mac versions plus iPod/iPad formats. About $50 but you can try demo for free.
There are also hardware versions that play CDs. Adacity is the only free program I know of.
