Re: [Harp-L] Not just another amp question

The CHB35 has a shared tonestack for both channels, modding one channel will be of limited value, because both go into the same treble & bass controls and harp & guitar typically want to see different settings. There does not seem to be a simple way to bypass the stack for one channel as the tone stack recovery stage is the gain stage for the phase inverter. Normally, I'd also suggest biasing to the minimum you can get away with for guitar...but this will push up plate voltage and you are already running the power supply caps at max voltage if the amp has never been recapped.

In short, it doesn't strike me as a great candidate for what you are proposing. Perhaps lining out a smaller amp, or a Harp Attack/preamp (to do some tone shaping before the treble & bass controls) into one of the channels might be a better route with this amp?

I have a Bogen Challenger CHB35. It has not been modded at all. It even still has the screw on connectors. I have it in a cabinet with a Jensen C12Q.
