Re: [Harp-L] Carr Amplification
I play in a band with two guitarists who both use Mercurys, one a 12"
and one a 10". They are great guitar amps and, at 8 watts, fine for
small gigs and great miced on large stages. They work for harp but are
a little feedback prone and may not cut it with an electric band -
certainly not a substitute for one of the harp specific amps you
mention. They are great for lap steel....
Carr amps are beautifully made and cleverly designed. Of all their
amps, the Sportsman sounds best to me for harp.

Has anyone tried a Carr amp with harp? Carr is a boutique amp builder that makes all tube, point to point wired, Class A amps ranging in power from 8 to 40 Watts. I'm looking at one in particular, the Mercury, which can be had with a 10" or 12" speaker, with switchable power levels of 8, 2, and 1/10th Watts. Price is actually more than HG, Sonny Jr, Megatone, and Meteor, but it would come as part of a package with a lap steel. I'm just wondering if it might be able to do double duty.
