As well as a consummate guitarist, Doc was a fine harmonica player. I
first learned Fisher's Hornpipe from a recording of his harmonica playing,
and some years later had the pleasure of playing it along with him and his
late son, Merle.
Hardly any guitar picker has not been influenced by Doc's playing; any
harmonica player interested in old time music would also do well to lend
him an ear.
Thanks, Doc.
Rick
