Not if that octave were always there to get. In the case of saxophones, the notes aren't really there, yet some can 'force' the reed to whip..and that makes it happen. For an example check out Craig Christman on you tube. A man who can do entire verses in the high phonics (altissimo) range. (Even Parker couldn't do entire verses.) I have a really rough time keeping up with him on Cherokee.
