Re: [Harp-L] another good man gone

Thanks for posting this Iceman.....Very Sad News indeed and condolences to his friends and family.

Duck played on an amazing double LP back in 69' called Fathers & Sons:

It's hard to believe that only the Producer Norman Dayron and Drummer Sam Lay are the only two living members from this landmark record!

a project at Chicago's Auditorium Theater and a subsequent recording session organized by record producer Norman Dayron, featuring Muddy Waters and backed by pianist Otis Spann, Paul Butterfield, Michael Bloomfield, Sam Lay, Donald "Duck" Dunn, and Buddy Miles, Jeff Karp on Chromatic Harp, which was recorded and portions released on Fathers And Sons on Chess Records.

Butter on some tasty support in Third Position:

This record is a must have for all serious Blues Harmonica Players and Blues Lovers and the playing by all is stellar!

PS... I had the honor and good fortune to work with Duck Dunn on occasion during my tenure for 7 yrs with the Original Blues Brothers band. He was a kind and generous soul with a great sense of humor.

also, check out his work with Butterfield on the RCO All Star records which was basically the Blues Bros Band but with Dr. John and Levon Helm whom we also just lost and levon played a little harp himself...check this out:

RIP Duck & Levon

Love & Peace,

Bass player and songwriter Donald "Duck" Dunn, a member of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame band Booker T. and the MGs and the Blues Brothers band, has died in Tokyo, May 13, 2012. He was 70. Dunn was in Tokyo for a series of shows. News of his death was posted on the Facebook site of his friend and fellow musician Steve Cropper, who was on the same tour. Cropper said Dunn died in his sleep.
