John Dankworth once told me that when they were young, he and Toots would ride around London in the top of those double deck buses and play "Body and Soul" in ridiculous keys, like B or F# just to push the boundaries of their abilities a bit.


(Steve will know this, but to you on the "l", Dankworth was an extremely talented saxophone player/arranger from England)

I assume Toots likes those keys because he's a jazz musician who was massively 
influenced by (and worked with) sax players. Many jazz tunes are written in 
those keys as they lay out well on the sax.
