Spend an afternoon with a professional harmonica player
workshopping all the finer points of Blues Playing. www.markbirdstafford.com
will lead this event
and you have the opportunity to up your skills as a musician and learn
all things
harp related. You'll get the chance to jam with the band. Mark teaches
privately,
with The Toronto District School Board Continuing Ed, and has held
workshops at major
festivals in Canada.

Workshop Details:

Joining Mark will be Juno Award Winner Darran Poole on guitar

Note: This workshop will include handouts.

-Time and Feel.

-Quick run through single note playing, bending to the "blue notes".
How to practice.

-Major Scale/Blues Scale.

-Brief description of playing in different positions/keys - examples of
first, second (cross) and third.

-Basic transitional licks - incorporating "blue notes"

Break 2:30pm (1/2 hr. break)

-Amplification - microphones - PA

-Harmonica Maintenance/Customizing

-The latter part of the afternoon session will include an
instructional segment and an interactive component (jam with the band)
so the attendee can learn the basics of leading a band into and
through several different types of "blues feels". Including counting
and playing in several different tempo's and grooves.

Wrap Up 4:30 - 5pm
