Subject: Re: [Harp-L] Harp players wanted (Yellowpine Festival)

I've never been to YellowPine - definitely not something my physical
problems would allow me to manage unless I rented a very comfortable RV for the
duration, but others of my friends have gone.

It's a very loosely organized 'fairgrounds' type set-up festival with
lots of vendors setting up tents to sell anything and everything, not
necessarily harmonica related. Be prepared for lots of walking.

This year there will be no harmonica contest due to insufficient interest
and some issues from changing the setup from previous years, but read it
for yourself:

(As I see it change from the tried-and-true isn't always good as you can
see and can cause problems for a particular festival). As far as I can tell
Dennis has no (or little) involvement with the running of it. Here's a link
to those who do (found with a Google search):

There are only 40 year round residents in Yellowpine so the festival is put
on by the help of volunteers and their friends.

My friends also told me that the road in is extremely mountainous and
dangerous and it's a very casual festival with accommodations mostly for tents
and RV camping - although there might(?) be one hotel. (It's a very small
town). I've no idea --you should check with the organizers. I understand
that it can also be extremely cold at night there - even in the Summer, so be
prepared if you plan to attend:

and this is their schedule for 2012:

Hope this helps somewhat.
