John, I assume you have an Audix Fireball as the newer Audix Fireball V comes with a volume control. First let me say that when I had the Fireball I was using the Greg Heumann external volume control with the impedance matching transformer built inside. MOST EXCELLENT work as usual by Greg. Lately I have been using an Audix Fireball 5 as my main harmonica mic...
It's ok.
But it is tiresome to have to use an impedance transformer to get the best
out of a guitar amp!
Also it needs an "on/off" switch.....
