I got this note from hohner about the new discovery, regarding the website blurb not mentioning "professional" in the list of players at whom the new instrument it aimed.
Dear Jon,
There is no reason why a professional player shouldn’t play this harmonica. The form of the mouthpiece is similar to the form of the Meisterklasse. In some tests players that usually play the 270 Deluxe didn’t like the mouthpiece. You have to test it and decide by your own if you like or dislike the Discovery 48. If you don’t like the mouthpiece and the slide assembly you can change them (as well as the cover plates) by the parts from a 270 Deluxe.
The plate thickness is the same like on the 270 Deluxe.
