Hey Robert! need you to be more specific for me to know what you are talking about. It would help to know how its unresponsive so I can figure out if there is too much compression or not enough. 
 Do you mean regular old blow or blow bends? There are different reeds involved in each situation. Depending on how you are blowing, there's one (or two) of three reeds at work in the XB 40. 
I retuned my XB 40 C to Paddy Richter for 4th position. It is extremely awesome and I can still blow bend the 3 to get the Ab note I lost from the draw bend.
