Re: [Harp-L] Jerry Reed,country harp.
Hi Sean....
Nice tune...yeah the sound is pretty distorted which makes it hard to play
along.
Terry is NOT using a Country Tuned harp and you certainly CAN play it on the
D 2nd pos, his solo is pretty straight ahead.
all the notes you need are there for this, lots of good and choppy draw
chugs will work as 'comping' chords behind the singer....
just be careful when it go to the II chord B7 ie: at 1:12 "house farms and
fields"...us a 2-5 BLOW octave there as the F# will embellish nicely on that
chord release.....
Hope this helps and have FUN!!,-)
Best,
Rob Paparozzi

Subject: [Harp-L] Jerry Reed,country harp.
Hi all,
I have been asked to accompany a friend on this classic tune.
My question to any of you country minded players is, does one need a country
tuned harp to play this as the late Terry Mcmillan does so here, in terms of
the backing/accompaniant?
I am making a reasonable semblance of the fills/solo but find his chording
quite difficult to follow.
Any advice appreciated.BTW,I'm playing a stock marine band(D)2nd pos in A.
Thanks,Sean.
