I'd never even HEARD bluegrass until 2 years ago when I was living in
Arizona.... But while I was there I got to play with 4 or 5 bluegrass bands,
while in the "west".... Most of the harmonica players playing bluegrass that
I heard at that time seemed to play tremolo harps, but although I am mostly
a "blues player" I found the bluegrass fraternity to be extremely
welcoming to me, and to other competent musicians.
It is hard to play bluegrass well! But it is a wonderful and often a joyful
style of music, and I look forward to playing bluegrass on my harmonica
again....

I stumbled upon the Bluegrass jam this past year. And as a blues guy
didn't think I could keep up. The folks were welcoming and turns out there's
enough cross-polination between both music forms that I could at least
participate. Definitely one of the highlights of my last SPAH.
