He did, Venky - at Garden State in November. I wasn't at SPAH so didn't get
to hear him play there but was given a heads-up by Smokey, who loved his
playing. Sammy played in front of a 3 piece Jazz trio during the late-night
jazz jams, even sitting in on piano once or twice (displaying terrific
piano skills) and definitely had people sitting up and taking notice of his
jazz chops based on the level of the applause (this mostly from much older
chromatic jazz players not usually all that enamoured of ob's).
The kid's 'got it' - and I have most of it on video.<G>
