Hi Joel:
Nice job on the tunes. The rest of your You Tube performances are great to watch as well. I haven't come across a lot of players (besides Rick of course) that have made and played these 10 hole Octave harps. I'm assuming you are using the hybrid Auto Valve Plates / 260 comb & mouthpiece? I'd be interested to hear from others who use these hybrid harps or similar tuning modifications on other octave harp models. (The Seydel Concerto comes to mind).
I've cobbled together a few of these with the tuning you describe and Rick suggested, (which seems to track with what Seydel calls "Easy Third" tuning on their configurator). They are really fun for octave playing, first and third position traditional tunes. The tone is very deep and rich.
I was able to create a 12 hole Low "D" which gets around the missing C# in the lower octave/ draw by modifying a D 270 and tuning a C# plate on the bottom up an octave.
(I also enjoyed the track from Blunt on the Paddy Tuned harps on the Tar Road to Sligo/ Tripping Up the Stairs?- !). Thank you both for the links.

Thank you!
The tuning is simple holes 1,2,3 are tuned exactly the same as 4,5,6 just one
octave lower.
The harp I used in the video is in D so the blow side should look like this: D
F# A D F#A D F# A D
And the draw would look like this: E G B E G B C# E G B
So you are missing the C# in the lower octave but that is normally only a
passing note in Irish music so you could work your way around it by either
taking a whole chord or just another note:) Rick Epping uses this tuning and
from what I'm aware of also the guy who came up with it.
Ah yeah! The XB-40 is great! I love it, it is a shame that Hohner are
discontinuing it:/
Sounds nice, clean and accurate! Keep up the good work!

which I have converted to PR. I enjoy playing Irish and Celtic melodies. My
background is as a blues player. Link below is Road to Sligo. Thanks for
