I feel that the mouthpiece/slide tolerance could be tightened for even greater airtightness on the Saxony (by grinding down the outside arms of the I-beam). I don't know whether any customizers have yet tried this, but for a single mod that would really hotrod this ax, it's the first one I'd recommend.

I would really appreciate longer reed life but my main interest in the
Saxony is the slide assembly. I have read in one of Winslow's older reviews
that it is loud and relatively airtight. Thanks for the confirmation on
that point.

What do you think about the cover plates? Does the mouth glide better over
the shiny chrome covers compared to the matt covers?
