[Harp-L] If Thorens could do it . . .

I just got an old 'Thorens No. 10 Professional Chromatic Harmonica' in like new condition. It plays beautifully and is sensitive to the lightest breath. It does NOT have valves and since here is no old glue residue anywhere, I'd say it never had any. Bearing all this in mind, here is my question: If a 60 - 70 year old Thorens can play this well, then why the Heck can't Hohner produce their Koch Chromatic to be anywhere near as good? Those things leak air like a sieve, for crying out loud! A couple of weeks ago, Dave Payne was on this list about something and said that air is mostly lost through the slide mechanism of chromatics. He's right, of course. However, if Thorens found the solution, then Hohner should be able to make one at least as good.

Best wishes to all for the upcoming holidays,
