Rick Dempster was asking about the available bends on the SUB30 UltraBend,
specifically the Bb on hole 4 and 7.
In stock form all the new bends are a semitone down (1-6 blow and 7-10
draw). The blow bend on hole 4 is a B, and in hole 7 you can get the Bb as a
bend from the B draw note.
However, if you want different bends it's easy to retune the Sympathetic
Reeds to different notes to your preference, For example in hole 4, to get a
Bb blow bend you would retune the Sympathetic Reed down from its current
pitch of Bb to A. Then you can bend the C blow down a whole tone.
The same principle applies for any other of the new available bends: you can
make them whatever you want, within half an octave or so.
The harp's active reeds can also be completely retuned, as with any normal
harp. I have one in Paddy Richter and another in PowerBender, and will make
some more in custom tunings.
Tuning to PowerBender is more complex, as you have to alter the reed
direction of the top 4 Sympathetic Reeds from blow to draw, as well as the
harmonica retuning. The new Suzuki HRT-10 reed replacement kit is great for
such work with Suzuki's welded reeds:

I'll be demonstrating it at SPAH.
