Hey Paul:
Remember I'm your best friend when it comes to that A :) hahaha
I'm blown away by finding out just how many 4 octave chromatics are now
coming to light as having been made in the keys I love so much (A, Bb, G,
etc), especially when so many people kept insisting that all of the top players
only and always played one Key of C. They DID have their little secrets,
didn't they?
It never made much musical sense (to my ears anyway), since the 270's were
available in so many different keys and being made such good use of by
Tommy Morgan among others. Why NOT have a 14 or 16 hole chromatic in more than
one key, but I confess this is REALLY mind-blowing news.
My DREAM instrument (as I've written about often enough) is a 16 hole
Hohner in Key of A.
So I'm actually a bit curious how one can make an A from a C. I've asked
around a bit since I have several Super 64's and wouldn't mind having a
couple of them tuned to A and Bb. Realizing the Bb takes the least and the F
would take a huge amount of solder as Emile said, can you clue us in on how it
was done for the A, and how the lower notes work?
Separately, please keep me in mind if you decide to look for a buyer for
the A at some point. I've thought about a CBH over the years --still don't
own one and your post leaped out at me.<G>

I recently bought some Chromatic's from the son of a east coast player
who passed away about 40 years ago. In the collection where 5 CBH's, t wo
C's, an F,G. and an A, in mint/ brand new condition They must have been
custom from Hohner when Frank Huang was customizing. Anybody on the list ever
seen these keys?
I can't wait see everbody in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
