Re: [Harp-L] Jazz Diatonic Harmonica

Pretty good improv....nice setting, colorful background, etc.

However, I'd revisit the "head" melody. You changed it a bit at the end of the phrase statements 1/2 way through and at the end, weakening the melodic line. The notes you chose were not as "powerful" as the original melody notes. (Listeners familiar with the melody will be singing along in their head as you play, in sync. When you take an unexpected left turn and the forward momentum stagnates, it creates an odd feeling in the listener). It gives the impression that one is just playing the melody in a throw away sense to get to the improv section where the fun is.

Granted, sometimes an artist will change the melody. In most cases this is not a very good idea unless it is an improvement - Miles Davis was able to do this to great effect.

Hi Friends and Music Lovers,

Welcome to check my new youtube clip

http://youtu.be/1TqWq28AWqM

I play jazz on diatonic harmonica - just jamming to a backing track.

The song is There Will Never Be Another You.

All the best and feel free to comment ,
