Re: [Harp-L] Cannonball Adderly's Work Song

Hey Dan,

The Work Song was written Nat Adderly and Oscar Brown Jr.
William Clarke also did a cover of that song on chromatic, but not with Butter's frantic approach.

I've heard other versions with lyrics (also by Brown/Adderly) that were presented as pure blues, featuring harmonica.

It's a great piece. I cover it with my band too, using chromatic in the first part and diatonic on the second.

Wow! I read the post Re: Re: Harp-l's future (John Kerkhoven) and said,
"Cannonball Adderly?" "Work Song?" Immediately youtube'd it.

Great piece of jazz! Thanks for pointing that out. My 2 disc Elektra
Anthology of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band is one of my favorite albums.
Lots of great jazz-blues fusion. I did not know Work Song was ostensibly a
cover. How ignorant am I?
