Re: [Harp-L] rogue harp-l yahoo group

Hi good folk all
Thank Goodness someone else remembers my friend, comrade and student Hugh Messenger, with whom I toured the world. Playing harp duo music every where we went. Three cheers for Hugh, where ever he is now.

I have been aware of the existence of the dead yahoo group called harp-l
for over a decade now. A subscriber recently pointed out that the group
was being used to host content of a sort that we would not be comfortable
with. I have tried for years to have this group removed from yahoo's site
but with no success. Prompted by the recent inquiry I tried again. I was
initially rebuffed but my follow up generated a reply that indicated some
action had been taken but that to protect the privacy of the group owner I
was not being notified of what that action was. Turns out they removed
the group. It only took 10 years of intermittent effort to accomplish.

Part of me is a little sad. This group originally had started out on
e-groups before yahoo bought them. It dated back to the Garply era when
Hugh Messenger was still the list owner. Over the years the posts had
slowly disappeared and then the files site began being corrupted so it was
time but in some small way I will miss it. harp-l-listowner
