[Harp-L] RE: Alnico or Ceramic speaker

The desired tone has a great deal to do with what speaker to use. I personally look for a ratty, honky, vintage tone, which I guess is best described as "Chicago blues", and I can't speak at all on what works for clean tone. I'm a very "old-school" guy and from all reading and advice of friends, I feel alnico is the way to go. I have been using a Masco Audiosphere 18 which, as I understand it, is about the wattage you describe. My speaker is an old Ampro cab with the original 12" Jensen. So far it is holding up well and I have another similar, lower wattage old Jensen waiting in case of failure. In event I lose both, I have looked at Webers for replacement. The one that seems like it would work the best for me is the 12A125-O. If anyone has any feed back on this particular speaker, I'd appreciate hearing. Good luck with what ever you try and let us know on here what works out.
