The trick to "ripping" audio with Audacity is to simply open Audacity, then open your YouTube or whatever audio source, set Audacity's input to Stereo Mix, start the meter monitoring, play the source and adjust the volume on the meter for no clipping, reset the audio source to the beginning paused, hit record on Audacity and hit play on YouTube or whatever. After recording, export your Mp3 file.
