My perspective:


Music is mystical and magical.



Music existed before theory was developed to explain it.


Theory/rules are not music, but are once removed from music.


Theory is words trying to describe something that is non-verbal.


Rules were invented to try to make intellectual sense out of what was going on.


We all know that, no matter what rules were developed, there are always exceptions to the rules.
