[Harp-L] How to tell the key of a song - Electronic Tuner

I have never tried this in practice and would like the input of the list.
My little ten dollar Snark electronic tuner has the remarkable ability to
"average out" the notes in a chord and often correctly display the chord
being played.  I occasionally leave it on as I am playing uke to watch it
display the chord I am playing, particularly when I don't know what some of
the fingered chords are.  It may not be right all of the time but it is a
good place to start looking.  Could you not set the tuner on an amp or
speaker cab where it would pick up the vibrations, listen and watch for a
moment and then see the I chord displayed when you hear it?  If someone has
already suggested this I apologize.
