What I do to periodically clean my slide (about once per week) is slowly
drop distilled water on to the back and front of the slide using an eye
dropper. To avoid water getting on the reeds and windsavers the harp
should be at an approximate 45 degree angle from horizontal with the
holes nearest the ground. I apply between 10 and 30 drops to each side
of the slide depending upon how sticky it has been.

This method has not failed to give me a nicely functioning slider yet.
But if this method does not cure the stickiness then consider that the
slide channel and slider are not adjusted properly with respect to one
another. To fix this one might need to play with the tightness of the
mouthpiece screws. If this does not work then consider that the slider
or slider channel or both might be bent a bit and should be replaced.
