Elizabeth Romel has been selling the reed tool. They are still in  
production. I bought a couple of them and passed one along to one of  
my students.

One suggestion: when you order the tool, ask for the "wide version" or  
the "Richard Sleigh version" of the punch for flattening the reed  
plate and setting the rivet. I asked them to make this punch with no  
taper at the end, just round off the edge a bit. It made the tool a  
lot easier to use, because the way they were making it before had the  
flattening punch tapered to the point where it did not cover the  
entire rivet pad of a reed. You need to be able to cover the entire  
rivet pad of the reed so you can flatten it and make the hole smaller  
so it grips the rivet more tightly.

PS - A few years ago I had a gig with an 8 piece R & B band and I  
could not cancel. I was having severe lower back pain, and I left the  
house bent over and in a lot of pain. Halfway through the evening I  
was standing up straight, and by the time I cam home, I was totally  
cured and full of energy. My wife took one look at me and said "OK,  
now I get it, you need to play music...".
I have read that all disease is blocked circulation in one form or  
another. I believe it, and also believe that one of the best ways I  
keep my energy from getting jammed up is to play music. Unlike some  
heavy metal vocalists, I have yet to find a way to get paid for primal  
screaming, but a good night with a few good musicians feels like a  
dozen sessions of therapy rolled into one.
