[Harp-L] RE: what cable
sounds good, i'm stearing more and more to Dimarzio. As for droppin'
bullets, I used to do that alot and wrecked some VCs and Crystals in my day. Clunk, no sound.
I now have a little bracelet thing I put on thats just shoelace material
with a metal ring that goes above the screw on part of the mic.
The ring is like something you would find on a key chain. As well as
it being a cheap safety harness I can also quickly drop the mic and go from electric
harp to Sonny Boy acoustic through the PA system.
Others may have done this before but I've never seen it. I was going
to market the BSH "bullet safety harness" and sell them for $929.95 + tax
but you can make one for about $2 in materials.
I have one on a great custom Astatic 200s I just got from super fantastic
mic builder Dave Wren.

> Greetings Joe; I too have tried many cables thru the years. For the last 4, I've use a D'marzio---it is the 18' model which comes in silver or gold--mines silver (which caused some initial ribbing from the guys--maybe 'cause I tell 'em to take their shoes off if they might step on "the siver cable"). It really is an excellent cable, being 14ga. rather than the thinner 16ga AND is by far the most supple, easy to handle, tangle resistant cable I've ever used. Being a heavier gauge allows for longer runs also, altho 18' is plenty for me, and I do most of our vocals also, so I,m up front. Monsters aren't "bad" cables, but you can do alot better for the buck! The custom cables from Chuck Gurney @ fattbottom mics are excellent and a great value--very classy tweed w/excellent components and workmanship. I ordered one when I got my mic from Chuck, and if I hadn't ordered it w/the 5/8 screw on connector, I would use it all the time--just afraid of a misstep jerkin' that beautiful mi!
> c to the ground. Think I,m gonna send it back for a guitar type connector. BTW, both of my guitar players have switched to D'marzio!! Take care. Rick
