Sad to say I will be missing SPAH this year but I'm hoping everyone has a
wonderful time. I will miss my old friends and new friends I haven't met.

If the tempo is locked in it usually is pretty easy if you have the proper
gear to record your part.
After you record your part it just becomes a file that you send out and
they drop it into the original.
I took a course once in digital recording and film and needed a Bass
harmonic part I did it at home and took it to school and dropped it in the
software perfecto.
Somebody sent me finished tracks once that needed
16 bars of harmonica. I had to record a third track and mix it into the
finished two track.
This would have been a nightmare without software and graphic editing. I had
to do the final mix to.
You can check it out here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A82Io4S97x8
Oh yeah I took the pictures and did the video.

Hi friends. This Wednesday is the debut of the BluesWailers new guitarist,
Jesse Cox. We are playing a one hour set at the Coyote Bar and Grill in
Carlsbad. Great little outdoor patio setting with a fire pit. The food is
great and there are 3 other bands playing as well. Music starts at 6. Our
set is from 8-9pm. I hope to see some friends and harmonica fans there.
BluesWailers are a blues/R&B trio with me on Drums and harmonica
simultaneously. We have some very cool tunes prepared and would love to get
your comments afterwards. http://www.coyotecarlsbad.com/
Friday from 6-8 I will be playing solo guitar and harmonica at the Lafayette
Hotel Pool in North Park. Take a swim and check out my new original tunes.
The Lafayette is a great venue, It always feels like I am going back in time
when I play there.

Also coming in August, BluesWailers will be headlining a concert at the
Lafayette's historic Mississippi Ballroom August 20th- 7-11pm Mark your
calendars and tell your friends. Wear some retro rags and take a spin on the
large dance floor. See you there!

I didn't really want to start a "Who's NOT Going?" topic because I am
already so sad that Richard Hunter and Bobbi Giordano and several others
have posted their regrets. But in an attempt to keep the "SPAH Who's Going?
Say Something About Yourself" topic tidy and upbeat, can we try and keep
the regrets confined to this new "Who's NOT going?" topic? And if
there's a even a small chance you might change your mind and attend, please
say so here.

You are a part of it. Now, schedule a visit to the convention and meet some
of these folks in person. There are a lot of good folks to learn from at
every convention, and you have the opportunity to present your own topic, if
you wish, too.

I am pleased to say that I will be attending the SPAH convention next
month! This has been a very challenging year for me and up until a week or
so ago I was not planning on attending. I am a solid 80% recovered from my
back surgery and I recently realized the the best perscription for full
100% recovery is a dose of MAJOR HARMONICA MADNESS!!!!!
I look forward to seeing all of my old friends and making many new ones! A
SPAH convention really has nothing to do with harmonica and has everything
to do with connecting like minded human spirits. The music and harmonica
magic are indeed an important part of it all but it is the people that make
this event a special one-of-a-kind blessing for those that can attend.
I am very pleased to see that Smokin' Joe Leone is running the Jazz jams. I
am not a jazz guy but he IS the one for the job I do know. Randy did a
great job and will be missed for sure. Mr. Smokey's gonna usher in a new
"TONE" for the jams. They say variety is the spice of life. Joe is one
spicey dude for sure :-)
Perhaps the most exciting part of my recent decision to make the trip to
Virginia Beach is that I will be driving down with harmonica royalty! Mr.
James Lincoln Gordon will be at my side as we cruise down the Delmarva
Penninsula coastline to the big show. Mr. Jimmy has a BIG SURPRIZE that he
will have in my trunk (and in my CD player).
This is gonna be a monumental road trip of major proportions. My goal to
have fun, stay safe and refill my "harmonica gas tank" for another year! I
am hoping that this year I can put myself "on the map" in a much more
prominent way :-)
Safe travels to all making the trip. See ya in paradise.

Welcome aboard, Daniel! I've been a SPAH member since 1999, and
although I only have made it to a couple of SPAH conventions (and a few
Buckeye fests), it does feel good to support the harmonica community as
a card-carrying member of the SPAH family. I'm still trying to
re-arrange my schedule to get at least a couple of days at the
convention this year. It may only be Thursday and Friday, but if I can,
I will attend. When you surround yourself with the harmonica masters
and other lovers of the instrument, only good things can come from it!
I always come away feeling more in tune with my harmonica and more
confident in my playing (even though you realize you ain't as good as
you thought you were back home!).

59 Bassman Reissue for sale...re-tubed for harmonica. Very good condition.
About 10 years old.
Low mileage, garage-kept. Only driven on Saturday nights.
I can bring it to SPAH if anyone's interested...unless you want it now,
which I highly recommend.
Contact me off-list for details: rich7rittenhouse at gmail dot com.

Hello friends!
I haven't missed a SPAH in years and it breaks my heart to miss it this
year. I have a nice festival I'm playing in Butte, Montana at the same time.
I am planning on going to SPAH 2012 in Irving, Texas. Have fun!
