I have a recording of a ripping uptempo performance Peter did of Little Walter's "Too Late" from a SPAH convention in the 1980s. When I recorded my own solo performance of "Too late" for my first CD, "The Act of Being Free in One Act," I asked Peter if he minded if I stole one of his triplet licks on that piece. He gave his permission, and I did. (Thanks, Peter.)

I was blown away by that performance, and I cannot imagine the shock and awe of the SPAH audience when Peter threw down on them for the first time. Most of them, I'm sure, had never thought about what kind of power and precision could be brought to bear on the diatonic until Peter showed up.
