Re: [Harp-L] Re: Fender Pro Jr....
I know several good harp players who use the 15 watt Fender Pro Jr.....
Mostly they seem happy with it.. Indeed, I have used several (over the years)
myself, when sitting in with friend's bands. But I personally don't like it
very much, for blues harp.
IF it is re-tubed and adapted... I'm sure it is ok... But for me, I found
that I'd get big feedback problems at quite low volumes... And unless it is
re-amplified into a big PA system, with just 15 watts of power, it's just
simply not loud enough to compete with the average electric guitar...
For some years, my personal amp has been a 40 watt Fender Blues Deluxe..
Which has enough "loudness" before feed back for most venues... And even
without "mods" it works OK for harp...
Recently I played through a 50 watt British built, (as far as I know),
tube amp ... An "Ashton Bluetongue 50"... New price about 350 GB Pounds, here
in England. It sounded just great to me, with plenty of volume and minimal
feedback problems...
BUT...
There ain't NOTHING so good, as a "Sonny Jr" harp amp!
