John Lee Williamson died in 1948.

Â
"The earliest signed documents by Sonny Boy was representing himself as âSonny
Boyâ Williamson on his June 4, 1949 marriage certificate, âWillie Williamsâ on
his September 22, 1949 application for a Social Security card, Willie âSonny
Boyâ Williamson on his December 7, 1950 Trumpet recording contract, "Sonny Boy
Williamson" on his (never used) management contract with Stan Lewis in
Shreveport on June 14, 1950."

Subject: [Harp-L] Sonny Boy I and II history question

Most people would agree that Rice Miller lied when he said he had the
Sonny Boy name first and that he stole the name to make money off the
reputation of John Lee. Did Rice begin using the name is public
before or after John Lee died?
