Re: [Harp-L] Fender Pro Jr....

Hey Joey,

I own a Blues Jr. (the Fender Pro Jr's bigger brother). It has basically the
same output, with a 12" speaker, but also offers bass, mid and treb controls as
well as separate Master/Volume controls. Many favor the Pro Jr, but I like the
BJ because there is more versatile of tone control.

The stock eminence speaker was loud but harsh to my ears and it seemed a bit
feedback prone. My solution was to replace the preamp tubes with lower-gain
tubes (ie 12AU7). This helped some w. feedback issues. But later, when I
replaced the speaker with a Weber Alnico straight cone speaker (12A100 /
P12R), this amp really came alive with tone-osity. I gigged with that baby for a
number of years. If you go with the Pro Jr, you can make these same changes.

Personally, I see no need to mess around with changing circuitry on this amp,
though some folk swear by it.

So here I am researching a possible first small gigging amp. I found the Fender
Pro Jr, and it seems to be what I am looking for (15watts, Vol/Tone controls and
under $400) My question is.. Has anyone played one of these and what were your
thoughts. Hopeeveryone is doing swell!
