[Harp-L] Harp-L] Memphis/IBC - Who's on Harp?
A 14 year old kid named Jake Friel showed up at our harmonica party last July
and asked me if it was alright for him to play tune. I told him it was an open mic
party and anyone was welcome to play.
A couple of weeks ago we attended a fund raiser to help send Jake and his band
"The Brighter Side" to the IBC. Five of the areas top blues bands played all day
at the event and drew a crowd of about 300.
Bob Maugler, a Seydel endorser who played harmonica and sang in his band
"Highway 61" was also the MC. Bob introduced Jake, presented him with a
full 14 key set of Seydel 1847 Classics (donated by the bands) and made the
announcment that Jake had been chosen as Seydel's newest endorsee.
I'm featuring a video of the ceremony and clips of Jake and his bands performance
in an advertisement on my website.
So (drum roll) Ladies and gentleman here is "The Brigher Side" Northeast Ohio's
Youth Showcase Band for the IBC 2011 Memphis Blues Challenge

I'm heading down on Weds morning (may try to get that moved to Tues
since we're going to get hit with another storm tues pm-thurs!). If you
are going to be there, especially performing, please send me an email
offlist so I can be sure to show up and cheer you on! Our blues society
is sending the Adrian Niles Band and Don Judy/Tom Cook for solo/duo so
I'll be at those.
Bobby Blackhat - saw yours and can't wait to hear you through that Harp
Attack!
