Re: [Harp-L] Re: Hohner Unsere Lieblinge Harmonicas
Hi !
I just checked on a Tremolo (Sailor). Bending really do work if you hit
both holes draw and blow-hole (I'm not suprised because the lips+mouth
build the inter-connection between the both reeds that are involved) but
does NOT work with a draw/blow into one single hole! Overblowing seems
to be VERY limited - I'm sure that this will not be the first choice of
any player if he likes to play chromatically...pls give me an example on
the phone if you succeeded in making chromatic music on a Tremolo with
dicrete combs ;-)

A full double reed bend or overblows are not possible on separate
combed harmonicas, like the one described below - this is due to the
fact that with these techniques ALWAYS two corresponding reeds are
involved for producing the bending note or the overblow notes. Single
reed bends like on a chrom or a fully valved diatonic are possible.
Sorry, but I have to disagree. Overblows and overdraws can be easily
done on any harmonica with single reed chambers. If there are holes in
the chambers (like some tremolo-harps) or if there are valves, then it
doesn`t work.
See Winslow Yerxa`s Discrete Comb.
