I read somewhere that this 3/4 flat 7th is called a "harmonic
seventh" or a "blues seventh." Wherever I read this said that the
"harmonic seventh" is also commonly used in barbershop quartet
singing. Whatever it's called, it sounds pretty good for blues when
played at the right spot.
