[Harp-L] Playing the changes 2 - connecting 7ths to 3rds (effortless jazz harmonica) Correct URL

I had to change the site a bit and now the URL in my previous post is out-dated. Here the same post again with the correct URL.
=================================
I just uploaded an mp3 and a pdf for you to study the second guideline in playing the changes.

With the first guideline you learned to hit the 3rd and 7th of each chord. These are the most important tones to hit if you want your playing to be clear about the harmony of the tune.

The second guideline is all about connecting the chords of a tune. You do that by proper chord tone resolution. Every chord tone has a common or "natural" way of moving to a specific chord tone of the next harmony. This is common knowledge for piano and guitar players but the principle is the same for melodic improvisation. So, this second guideline focusses on resolving the 7th of a chord to the 3rd of the next chord. That's one of the most important and most common chord tone resolutions found in tonal music and jazz in particular.

Here you'll find the material: http://www.effortlessharmonica.com/harmonica-how-to-play/tunes/jazz-standards/all-the-things-you-are-connect-7ths-to-3rds/

If you master these guidelines and know how to effortlessly apply them in your playing, then you are certainly ready to move from a basic level to an intermediate level of jazz playing!

Have fun,

Wim
