Fortunate to have many options of choice based on your style, your tone and
venue. How to pick one?
Cost factor, tone, how will it be used, experience of others-if that
experience meets our expectations, what the pros use (be careful here as
some pros just use something they have, while others really work there gear
to get their sound at all venues) Kim Wilson usually seems to stay in the
Fender family because he has learned over many years how to adapt them to
get out his tone in many different venues. Rod and Dennis seem to have
stayed with the HarpKing for all size venues, Mark, Charlie and others use
Avengers or Crunchers, while other pros use a variety of amps. I have heard
some really great players, who play through amps that really limit their
playing that gets through to the audience. They are playing great but the
audience doesn't really hear all they are doing.
Check out used values, what amps are in demand and which ones are hard to
find.
I guess it still holds true that you must beware of someone with just one of
anything, because there is a good chance he really knows how to use it.
