Thanks for this Jim.
When I got my first C chromatic sixty odd years ago, I quite unconsciously
transposed everything I tried to play to C - so that I might as well have
stuck to a diatonic.
Now only in my 'dotage' have I become a little bit 'weaned off" first
position.

In my opinion,,,,,, the concept of only one key is 20% truth and 80% 
nonsense.

I change keys as the situation dictates.
