I sometimes feel non-US players don't get the attention they deserve on the
main harmonica lists, so from time to time like to highlight world-class
players that many Americans may have barely heard of.
There are two brilliant young Scandinavian players that merit your
attention: Sweden's Filip Jers, and Denmark's Jacob Venndt. They are both
amazing technicians, great improvisers, multi-instrumentalists (especially
Jacob, who plays over 15 instruments to a high level), and well-schooled
reading musicians who have a deep grounding in classical & jazz music
theory.
Schooled as a bass player, Jacob plays all the harmonica types, but
specialises on his own swinging style of jazz chromatic. Filip started on
diatonic and won the World Championship a few years ago, but now also plays
excellent chromatic.
They are doing some great gigs in their respective countries, and have a
good presence on Youtube. Check out these recent videos:
FILIP JERS (stunning overblow diatonic and accordion together, live)

JACOB VENNDT (he plays all the instruments on this one)

Both are amazing pieces in their different ways. Hopefully these links will
encourage you to explore further!
