It's written into the performers agreement that they can not record or
video their own shows. I believe some of the venues posted signs about  
no
audio or video.  At least Alfred's did when we played there in 2006.

IBC however is allowed to record and take full ownership of the rights  
to use the audio or video recordings
without compensation to the artists.
