For those player who may have missed the announcement, Alan Wilson's family recently launched www.alanwilsoncannedheat.com for fans of Alan's harp and guitar work with Canned Heat, in hopes that it will be an informative site about Alan's contributions to the blues, both as a performer and as a scholar. It contains many of his written and spoken interviews, articles he wrote about several important blues musicians, his hand written musical notations, videos (including a dynamite live version of On The Road Again from 1970 in Europe), etc. plus a forum about blues harmonica.
You can also order a copy of the book Blind Owl Blues by Rebecca Davis Winters, the ultimate biography of this important musical genius and co-founder of Canned Heat. The book is a wonderful read, and contains many previously unpublished photos of Alan from his early days in 1961 at Boston University where he became immersed in the growing blues revival through the years to his final days with Canned Heat in 1970. If you love Alan's playing and if you love the blues, you will love this book. It gets my highest recommendation.
