Robert Hale's student plans to play solo. He doesn't say if this is the student's first public music performance. If it is then that is brave. Long ago when I first did solo harp at an open mic the audience very much expected me to sing as well, to the point that I did cos I felt I had to. They probably suffered more than me but it was a close thing. Also KISS (keep it simple stupid) minimal equipment that nerves cause you to blunder with, play a tune you know inside out, don't try any fancy moves the first time (most of the audience barely know what a harmonica is, never mind an overblow), play a tune they know, leave them wanting more
