---I think playing someone else's tunes in a concert without playing royalties and recording [without permission] the same for later resale or posting on a website are two very different animals ethically, and the latter could open SPAH to legal problems. Realistically this IS a concern. I would submit that an international organization, no matter how relatively small in the big scheme of things, is exactly the sort of thing that "pops up on someone's radar.">>>>
you missin' the point, Mr. Harpbob....
you won't cross the street cause there is a chance you'll get hit by a car? Realistically this IS a concern
you won't eat out at a restaurant cause there is a chance you may get food poisoning? Realistically this IS a concern
you won't use your credit card cause there is a chance your identity will be stolen? Realistically this IS a concern
btw, not interested in debating this point. I'm sure a lot of bandwidth can be spent justifying the fears of those that enjoy approaching these issues through fear.
will say this, however...
how many musical hobby groups are there out there? how many use the internet? how many post videos, workshops, etc? how many are on youtube, for goodness sakes?
how many HUGE sites are on the web that trade and share live recordings/videos of major artists and their concerts which quite frequently contain copyright materials (as long as the content doesn't contain officially released material or is requested by that artist to be removed)? --HINT on this one -- google "dimeadozen.org"---
point of my comment....creative and daring leadership of an organization = WOW factor and excitement
too politically correct and cautious leadership of an organization = SNOOZE factor and boring
only speaking for me.... I prefer WOW over SNOOZE
which do you prefer?

---Do we really want SPAH to be involved in copyright infringement?
That is a "non-concern?"
